Level D

Purpose and objectives:
The training aims to provide the specialized technical knowledge and skills required, in addition to the knowledge for normal advanced tree felling, level C, or level S, to safely use chain saws, various forms of pole or throwing saws and other special tools when clearing damaged trees and branches on overhead lines.

Please note that knowledge of electrical safety (approved ESA training) is a prerequisite.
Please note that ABSD only provides competence for clearing work and does not provide competence to fell trees next to power lines, e.g. preventive tree protection.

• Knowledge of the safety regulations applicable to the use of chainsaws in the work described above and the risks associated with their use (e.g. through the relevant parts of AFS 2012:1)
• Knowledge and skills to reconnoitre, plan and carry out clearing work on overhead power lines in connection with e.g. storm surges or snowfall with good control and safety, as well as being able to assess what cannot/should not be done by manual or motorized methods.
• Good knowledge of available working methods and aids, and knowledge and skills in using various aids such as winches and pole saws, as well as good knowledge of the risks associated with their use.
• Knowledge and skills to work safely in darkness and bad weather using appropriate equipment.
