Presentation of Svante Hansson

After Forestry college which I finished in 1976 i worked until 1983 with all different techniques in forest-operations. The main task was to introduce, and together with Patrik Gabrielsson educate foreign forestry students in Swedish forest technology. This took place in Garpenberg-where the Swedish Agricultural-and-Forestry University are situated. In 1983 i started to work for Jonsered Power Products, a company that manufactures chain saws and logging-equipment. I traveled for them all over the world during 6,5 years and i was responsible for technique and product-education on the field.

In November 1989 i started a limited liability company which i gave the name SHAB. The business-idea with this company is to supply the highest possible level of training in practical forestry-operations. Foremost we concentrate our knowledge where manual cutting techniques for future forest quality are needed. Russia is stocked with dense forests. The education also contents development of the students personality which is especially important in Russia, Biological necessities for the future forest, Environmental care and Sound economical structure in forestry.

The company has concentrated its activities in former Sovjet-union and has since the start participated in several logging-operations. There is a branch office in Estonia since October-96, which will work with instructor education and schools.


We are in the process of starting up logging operations for Fairmont Natural Resources in Kirov, Russia, and so far 30 loggers are working. This logging activities with an English company which will cut about 800000 m3 per year in a few years.

We have started up logging operations for Tetra-Laval Svetogorsk A/O, Russia. A very large project where we have cooperated with Tetra-Laval since the start of the project. We educate all the staff from sevice-personel to district managers. Due to financial difficulties the project is stalling. So far 60 loggers is working.

We have started up the logging operations for MoDo-Skog AB, a large Swedish forest-concern, in Novgorod- Russia and in Estonia. The project is proceeding and growing. At this moment 60 loggers are working in Russia.

We have educated 3 forest-companies and participated in a fourth, for Thomesto Sweden, the largest independent import company of round-wood in Sweden. Russia-Onega Forest and Ladoga Forest, Estonia-Hiiumaa and Mets jaa Puu, Lithuania-Girinis. Totally 310 loggers plus team leaders.

We have cooperated with Jonsered and Husqvarna in exhibitions and forestry days in Russia, White-Russia and the Baltic states

We have started and educated 20 loggers for a company in Irkutsk-Russia where the owner of the company-Fjodor Kossovskij, are renting 20 000 ha of forest land from the state.


Cooperation with Elmia, Swedish Forest Association and The Swedish Agricultural Association during large Forestry exhibitions Elmia wood and Skogs-Elmia. We conducted together with these intressents a thinning-school for all attendants to these exhibitions.

Education for Swedish board of forestry (local) where we conduct education and issue work-certificates for the students.

Education for several forestry-colleges in practical logging-operations.


We, are besides myself, instructors with long experience in both Swedish and international education projects. A few of us are Russian speaking.

When necessary we take in extra personnel for special projects.
